Kaberle Sticking To No-Trade Guns

Put the Tomas Kaberle trade buzz to bed.
It’s not happening.
That’s at least the latest impression from Kaberle who reiterated Sunday his much-repeated stance of remaining in blue and white beyond the March 3rd trade deadline.
“I hope so,” Kaberle said of staying with the Leafs through March 3rd. “Nothing changed on my side so we’ll see.”
That’s been the sentiment from day one and yet still there remains this underlying impression that Kaberle will relent at the last minute as was the case at the deadline last season.
This year appears to be different though.
For one thing his agent has been steadfast that no list will be forthcoming with Kaberle intent on remaining with the team for the remainder of his contract. Add in the haste with which the deadline arrives following the Olympic break and it seems doubtful that Kaberle will change his mind.
The plus of course if he were to do so is control—or at least some level of it.
If he were to give Burke a list of ten teams as he did at the deadline last season then he’d at least retain a measure of control over where he’ll play out the final year of his contract, an option that disappears in the summer when the draft rolls around in Los Angeles.
Until the deadline comes and goes it’s no sure thing, but right now it appears Tomas Kaberle will remain a Leaf for just a little while longer.

The fact remains, pressure or not, that some players love to be in Toronto. Honestly, in rebuilding mode I would prefer to see him traded for some valuable young talent ( maybe to compensate the losses of three essential round picks). Although, I question anybody would be willing to give us the talent we want and need.

Kaberle earned his no trade clause, let him exercise it. Consider the opposite of that situation. How would we react if we had a superstar that DIDN'T want to play here. I want players that want to play here. Yes Kaberle is a valuable commodity to trade for this rebuild/renovation, but if we can't move him, it won't be such a bad thing. Kabby is only 32 and still an affective defenceman earning every penny of his salary. It's not like we need to shed salary.
How do you think Ottawa feels about Heatley's whining and demands. Would you rahter have that type of situation?
And let's give Burke some respect. He's an honorable man and is treating the players with the utmost respect and professionalism. Do you want another Ballard in T.O.?

Ever consider that he really likes it here and doesnt want to leave? If you think Gunnarson is ready to take his place then ship him out in the summer. But if the guy is willing to play for a reasonable salary, which he is, why move him. Why are people so intent on running him out of town, is he a locker room cancer? no.....is he not playing well? he is, is he overpaid? no. Is his skill set unique on the team? it was, maybe not. Now that Phanuef is here I would rather ditch Komisarek and Exelby and Finger. Save more money, keep your skill level higher.

Still don't get why he won't give Burke a short list to control where he goes....Someone explain to me why he wouldn't.

Perhaps because he is earning a huge salary and only has to work for 7 months and 4 days a year, why wouldn't you like that deal. Stanley Cup finals aren't over for another 3 months almost.

If I were Kaberle, I would go up to Burke and say "I'm not officially waiving my no-trade clause, but if you get a good offer from one of these 10 teams, I'll consider it". I don't know why he wouldn't do that, considering he can be traded anywhere after the season is over and the best deal might be from a team he isn't too big of a fan of.

I like Kaberle, but why would you want to miss the playoffs yet again when you know that they can't keep you around next year? they won't have the money with the guys already signed.
