Toronto will be getting a break from the bitter winter weather as spring-like temperatures roll in for the Family Day long weekend.
Temperatures are expected to dip around the freezing mark Friday evening, before reaching double digits on Saturday.
“What we’re going to be dealing with over the next few days, just beautiful conditions weather-wise,” says Anthony Farnell, Chief Meterologist at Global News. “I cannot stress that enough, how nice of a Family Day weekend we have ahead of us.”
Saturday, a mix of sun and cloud is forecast for the city, before becoming sunny late in the afternoon. The high could reach 11 degrees.
Sunny periods are also expected on Sunday and Monday, with highs of 10°C and 7°C for those days.
The mild weather is expected to stick around as well. Day highs around 8°C are expected through to Thursday, although the sunny periods are only forecast until Monday.
A chance of showers is expected on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Spring-like temperatures in February
According to Environment Canada data, the mild temperature on Saturday could possibly reach a record-high for that day.
The last record was set in 2011 when the temperature reached a mild 10.8°C.
The normal temperature for this time of year is a high of -1°C and a low of -8°C.
