A police department in western PEI has thought of an unusual punishment for drunk drivers.
In its holiday campaign this year, the Kensington Police Service threatens to put offenders in the back seat of a police car and force them to listen to Nickelback.
The promise was posted on the police force’s Facebook page Saturday.
It warns officers will be out for the remainder of the year “looking for those dumb enough to feel they can drink and drive”.
“And when we catch you, and we will catch you, on top of a hefty fine, a criminal charge and a years driving suspension we will also provide you with a bonus gift of playing the offices copy of Nickelback in the cruiser on the way to jail.”
In Toronto, the OPP released some startling statistics on Monday.
Over one hundred drivers were charged with impaired offences over the previous weekend.
