The death of Fidel Castro has brought out mixed reactions in regards to his legacy. Justin Trudeau has been slammed for praising Castro as a “legendary revolutionary and orator”. We wanted to hear from a Cuban who lives in Toronto, but who also shares a positive view of Fidel Castro. Julio Fonseca, a languages professor at York University and the President of the Association of Cubans in Toronto, joined the show to give us his thoughts.
Do you agree with Julio Fonseca, that Castro’s legacy was largely positive? Or do you think our Prime Minister was wrong and should have pointed out that there were human rights violations?
