Durham regional police say a 17-year-old suffered a knife wound after an altercation outside of an Oshawa high school.
Around 11 a.m. officers responded to an armed person call at Monsignor Paul Dwyer Catholic High School on Rossland Road East. Upon arrival officers found the teen male victim with a wound in his side. He was transported to hospital with injuries that were considered minor.
According to police, eyewitness accounts say a blue van pulled into the driveway of the school just west off of Stevenson Road North, and drove along side the victim before attacking.
As a precaution, police instituted “hold and secure” procedures for all nearby schools during their initial search for a suspect.
Police do not believe this to be a random attack.
