A housing project that has been proposed by an accountant from Montreal, Nabil Warda, seeks to create a Muslim community fit with religious rules, such as incorporating a halal home financing system, no drinking allowed, and requiring women to dress modestly. He was quoted in the National Post specifically saying, “we don’t want women living there going half naked down the streets. We don’t like that. If they want to do that, let them go and live in downtown Montreal”.
