A former employee with the John Howard Society is facing charges after allegations he sexually assaulted a client following a counselling session.
According to Peel Regional Police, the investigation was launched after the victim came forward on October 19th, alleging the assault had taken place in Richmond Hill earlier that day.
Shane Joseph was arrested in connection with the investigation on November 1st and has since been charged with two counts of sexual assault, as well as one count each of assault and forcible confinement.
The 36-year-old is due to appear in court in Newmarket on December 7th.
The John Howard Society is an advocacy group that, among other things, helps inmates reintegrate into society at the end of their sentence.
