The Ontario government has announced a new counselling service for traumatized jurors.
“Jurors in difficult trials do face evidence that could be quite horrific, and we’ve heard those stories,” Attorney General Yasir Naqvi told CBC News “It’s only appropriate that we provide appropriate services.”
The program comes after a number of media reports of jurors diagnosed with PTSD after serving on especially gruesome trials. Naqvi says the program will be in place by January 2017.
