The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) continues to investigate after a 32-year old man was injured during a police pursuit in Brampton Friday morning.
Peel Regional Police had noticed and began following a tractor trailer near Kimbel St. and Torbram Rd. in Mississauga around 4:15 a.m. The truck and cruiser later collided at Steeles Ave. W. and McLaughlin Rd. S. in Brampton when officers had attempted to stop the vehicle.
Police previously said two people inside the vehicle jumped out and fled on foot.
According to a news release from the SIU, the driver of the truck was removed from the vehicle and had been bitten on the leg by a police dog. The man was also tasered during this interaction and later transported to hospital for treatment as well as a neck injury.
Five investigators, two forensic investigators and one collision reconstructionist are now investigating the incident.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
