Halton police have confirmed a fatality in Georgetown after a passenger train hit a pedestrian.
The collision happened around 2:20 P.M., on Tuesday, in the area of Maple Avenue and Trafalgar Road in Halton Hills, Georgetown.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken over the investigation.
No victim information was released by police.
Road closures include:
- Trafalgar Road, in both directions, will be closed north of Maple Avenue/17 Sideroad
- Maple Avenue/17 Sideroad, in both directions, will be closed west of Trafalgar Road
The collision did not involve a GO Transit train, but, may effect train service to Georgetown station.
Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins says Georgetown is closed due to the nearby investigation, which means trains scheduled to arrive at 5:45 P.M. and later may be cancelled and replaced with bus service to Kitchener station.
