Toronto police are warning residents and business owners in the city’s west end to be vigilant, after a man allegedly posed as a fire inspector and charged a fee to inspect fire equipment.
Investigators say the man attended local businesses in 11 division between April and October 2016.
It’s alleged that he would then charge a fee to inspect fire equipment and issue fraudulent receipts in the name “TNT Fire” or “TNTFIRE+SAF.”
Police warn that he is not licensed to inspect fire equipment and anyone who had equipment inspected by him should make sure it is functioning properly.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1100 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
