A Brampton man who plied a woman with alcohol, then sexually assaulted her, has been charged with sexual assault.
Justice Mara Greene said that the 25 year old female victim did not have the capacity to consent when she had an encounter with Moazzam Tariq.
During the trial, the crown showed surveillance video evidence of Tariq pouring alcohol down the woman’s throat not once, but twice.
The victim was out celebrating a birthday with friends when she met Tariq. Videos show a succession of events which started with a club in the King Street West and Portland Street area eventually seeing Tariq and the victim making their way to a nearby hotel where he then sexually assaulted her in one of it’s rooms.
The female victim says she recalls very little of the incident, just a few moments of distress while Tariq was on top of her. She says she had no memory of consenting to sex.
