Toronto will have a new Fire Chief, soon.
The city confirmed in a press release that Chief Jim Sales no longer works for the City.
Sales has been head of the public agency since 2012, and was endorsed by former Mayor Rob Ford for cutting costs.
The city’s release says Sales was on personal leave for the past few months.
No reason was given for his departure.
“It’s been an honour to lead Toronto Fire Services for the past four and a half years,” said Sales. “I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish. I sincerely hope that our efforts will provide a strong foundation for the Fire Service to continue to excel.”
Deputy Chief Matthew Pegg will continue in his role as Interim Fire Chief until the City finds a replacement.
