Ontario veterinarian Mahavir Singh Rekhi has been the recipient of numerous death threats after his suspension made the news across the province, according to his lawyer Neil Adamson.
The St. Catharines vet pleaded guilty to professional misconduct at the College of Veterinarians of Ontario back in July.
Four former employees, including Larissa, filed a complaint about his conduct with the College, submitting 12 videos of his abusive interaction with clients’ pets as evidence of wrongdoing.
He has been suspended from practicing for 10 months, which will be dropped to 6 months if he attends a number of programs. He was also fined $10,000.
Adamson claims that Rekhi’s schooling in India, a place where animals are treated “differently”, is to blame for his controversial approach with pets.
