Contract talks continue between Unifor and General Motors, with the hopes of hammering out a template agreement which satisfies thousands of Canadian auto workers at GM, Ford and Chrysler.
After several hours of negotiating Monday, Unifor made a brief statement on the progress of talks saying some matters remain unresolved.
The auto workers’ contract with the Detroit Big Three expires at midnight.
If there is no new deal by the deadline, workers at all three automakers will launch job action.
Unifor is looking to secure wage increases. improvements to the “new hire” program and retirement incentives, but primarily the union is looking to lock down new product for the GM assembly plant in Oshawa.
