Eight teams, one body of ice, a hockey crazed host city and thousands of proud, screaming hockey fans.
All of these elements combine and descend upon Toronto’s Air Canada Centre for day one of the World Cup Of Hockey 2016.
The majority of the team’s competing are comprised of some of the NHL’s best and brightest while teams such as Europe, Russia and Finland have several players playing out of league’s such as the KHL, SM-liiga and Swiss NLA.
While most of the attention will on Team Canada and Team USA, pundits and fans alike will have a keen eye on Team North America which is comprised of the NHL’s younger, up and coming stars.
With the likes of Edmonton’s Connor McDavid, Buffalo’s Jack Eichel and Calgary’s Johnny Gaudreau as some of the stars leading the lineup, there’s no surprise why they will be the team to watch.
The opening matchup of the tournament will see Team Europe, led by former Oiler’s bench boss and current chairman of the English Premier League’s Southhampton F.C Ralph Krueger, take on Team USA, led by notorious head coach John Torterella.
Canada’s first game of the tournament will come Saturday night at 8 p.m as they take on Team Czech Republic.
If you’re not able to find a TV screen to take in all of Team Canada and Team North America’s games, you can catch them all on AM640.
