The Toronto police homicide unit with a press conference on Tuesday to update the fatal shooting of 61 year old Peggy Ann Smith in Riverdale on Saturday.
Detective Dave Dickenson revealed the existence of a video which is a ‘narrative’ of the time frame in which the shooting took place.
The video is rough security camera footage which shows the suspects arriving and running away from the scene.
Investigators hope the footage will trigger recollection for potential eye witnesses to come forward.
Dickensen also revealed that a group of about 5 men, who may have been the targets, were in the same lane way at the time of the shooting, and that approximately 10 shots were fired.
The descriptions of the two suspects are:
Suspect 1: Male in his 20’s with a brown complexion, about 5’6″ in height and of average build. He had a full beard, dark pants, grey hoodie and black baseball cap.
Suspect 2: Male in his late teens or early 20’s, likely of Somalian descent, approximately 5’11” with a skinny build. He was also wearing dark pants, a grey hoodie with a dark band running horizontally.
Tuesday’s presser took place in a laneway near Don Mount Court and Kintyre Avenue, south-west of Broadview Avenue and Dundas Street East, where officers found Smith in an alley. She later died at the scene.
No one else was injured.
