There’s been a small cabinet shuffle as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has decided to revise the roles with some of his ministers.
It was eight months ago when the Trudeau government had been sworn in and now the role of government house leader belongs to Bardish Chagger, who is the acting minister of small business and tourism. She replaces Dominic LeBlanc who will give up that role, but still remain as the acting fisheries minister.
Chagger was elected in October 2015 after she ousted PC MP Peter Braid from the former Kitchener-Waterloo seat since 2008. She has been handling both roles since Hunter Tootoo resigned from cabinet back in May due to treatment for alcoholism.
Meantime, Dominic LeBlanc is expected to be given extra duties in the near future.
Today, small business & tourism minister @BardishKW becomes the first woman to serve as Government House Leader. Congratulations Bardish!
