Christmas trees and decorations have been spotted for sale at Costco stores—five months ahead of the big day.
Surprised shoppers have found the Christmas stuff in the barbeque aisle. According to Don Shiner, a marketing professor at Mount Saint Vincent University, retailers are always trying to make their stores more interesting, which may explain selling Christmas gear for as long as possible. However, Shiner warns that doing this too early may alienate customers. Reactions from customers have been mixed, as some think it’s a great idea and buy gifts ahead of time, while others haven’t finished planning their summer vacation yet.
Is it too early to sell Christmas stuff now, or is it a smart idea?
