An Ontario Superior Court judge has ruled three women found guilty of fraud will not be deported back to their native Haiti.
Anna Clermont, Solange Fervius-Celine, and Jeanette Etienne–all in their 40s–were convicted in May of defrauding an insurance company out of over $36,000 in a bogus accident claim. Two of the women were sentenced to just under six months house arrest, meaning they won’t be automatically eligible for deportation. The trio had claimed they were injured when their car collided into a van in Scarborough back in April 2010.
Do you think the judge was too lenient in this case?
