York regional police say homicide detectives have now taken over the investigation into a missing Markham woman.
Ying Chun (Annie) Li was last seen by her family on Sunday, June 12, 2016, at 6 p.m., in the area of Denison Street and Markham Road.
Ms. Li has not been in contact with her family since then.
Investigators believe Ms. Li may have been seen later in the evening of Sunday, June 12, 2016, at about 7 p.m., in the Richmond Hill area.
She is also known to frequent the areas of Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue as well as Fairview Mall in Toronto.
In a news release issued on Wednesday afternoon, police say that are growing increasingly concerned for her well-being and that her disappearance is now considered suspicious.
They are now seeking assistance in identifying a possible witness who they say may have information that can assist in this investigation and have released security camera images of the woman.
Li is described by police as a 36-year-old Asian woman, standing 5’2″, 120 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
