A man killed during a daylight shooting in the Yonge and Eglinton area has been identified as a former Vancouver gangster.
According to the Vancouver Sun, Sukh Deo, 34, was well known to police in Metro Vancouver and so were some members of his family.
His brother Harjit Singh Deo was convicted in 2007 in a kidnapping for ransom case in which the victim was kept in the garage of the Deo family home.
Deo made headlines in May when he was tossed out of a Raptors playoff game for heckling the referee.
Deo was in the driver’s seat of a white Range Rover on Tuesday afternoon when 14 shots were fired into his vehicle.
Police say two suspects described as black males, were seen fleeing the area in a black car.
Both suspects were wearing construction vests, one orange and the other green.
This marks the city’s 33rd homicide of the year
