A two day safety blitz focused on commercial vehicles in Halton Region saw over half of the vehicles inspected, removed from the road.
There were a total of ninety-one trucks pulled over for inspection, with fifty-three pulled out of service, due to their unsafe condition.
One vehicle was found to have loose lug nuts which would have eventually resulted in the tires falling off.
As well, nearly two-hundred charges were issued, two drivers were suspended and five licence plates were removed.
“Taking these trucks with major defects off the road makes our community a safer place to drive.” – Sgt Bistas, with the Oakville District Response Team (DRT)
This was a joint partnership involving Halton Regional Police, Peel Regional Police, Guelph Police and the Ministry of Transportation.
