A 35 year old Toronto man is now facing charges following the alleged abduction of his child in the town of Aurora earlier this week.
According to York Regional Police, the man forced his way into the mother of the child’s home in the early hours of Monday, April 18th where he then assaulted the child’s mother and took the four year old girl without consent and fled the scene in a vehicle.
An investigation was launched and out of concern for the safety of the child, an amber alert was then issued.
The suspect’s vehicle was located by the OPP in Bancroft, Ontario and a brief pursuit ensued.
The mini-van was involved in a single vehicle collision in Pembroke a short time later, with the collision now under investigation by the SIU.
Both father and child were taken to hospital following the crash for the treatment of non life threatening injuries.
The suspect has now been charged with abduction, two counts of assault and break and enter.
He appearing in court via video link today.
