Parents in the Montreal suburb of Chateauguay are threatening to pull their children out of school after learning that notorious convicted killer Karla Homolka is living in their community and is sending her kids to local Centennial Park School.
New Frontiers School Board chairman David D’Aoust has confirmed that there are in fact two children at that elementary school. A third is in pre-kindergarten. The board said it has been in contact with police, and that they are dedicated to ensuring the safety of all children at Centennial Park.
It is not yet known if Homolka has volunteered for school activities. In order for her to do so, she would have to submit to a criminal background check.
“These are innocent children who are receiving educational services from us,” D’Aoust said.
Homolka, one of the most notorious killers in Canadian history, served a twelve-year manslaughter sentence in prison for the 1990s sex slayings of two Ontario schoolgirls, Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy.
This news caught many parents by surprise.
One parent told Global News that she sees Homolka, who now goes by Leanne Bordelais, drop off and pick up her kids every day at school.
Another told Global HERE that she’s disappointed with New Frontiers, that “it shouldn’t be a secret. It should have been divulged to all the parents.”
Should the school board move Homolka’s kids to another school?
