The Education Minister is under fire, yet again, thanks to the latest revelation surrounding paid sick days for some teachers.
The Toronto Star is reporting Toronto’s Catholic Elementary teachers took off, on average, 16 sick, and what are being called emergency days, last year.
And almost all will receive a bonus day; an incentive for teachers who were absent at least one day less than the board average.
Minister Liz Sandals has not yet commented on the report.
Not only has she been criticized with regards to the collective agreements reached with the unions, she’s also been raked over the coals after recently suggesting teacher absences’ were increasing because they are no longer permitted to bank sick days, to be cashed out at retirement.
