A Scarborough area MP has confirmed that he is battling cancer for the second time.
Arnold Chan, A Liberal MP for Scarborough-Agincourt said in brief message posted to his website that ”a recent routine check-up revealed that my cancer has resurfaced.”
The 49 year old added that he has been working with physicians at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre for the best course of treatment and hopes to maintain a modified work schedule as he continues to serve the residents of Scarborough-Agincourt.
Chan also stated that he is ”confident” he will beat this challenge
The MP was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer shortly after winning his seat in a 2014 byelection, with the cancer centred in his sinuses and lymph nodes.
He underwent treatment and was successfully re elected in last fall’s federal election.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has expressed his support for Chan in a tweet sent on Wednesday afternoon.
