Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for all of the GTA as rain mixed with ice pellets is expected to start tomorrow evening.
There could be anywhere from 5-10 mm of ice on untreated surfaces by Thursday morning and it could affect the morning commute.
Slippery conditions may cause significant impact on transportation and there is a chance there could be power outages if ice accumulates on branches or wires.
Areas from Toronto westward will see the freezing rain change to rain Thursday morning and East of Toronto the freezing rain will end later in the day on Thursday.
The weather agency says ice accretion on untreated surfaces of 5 to 10 millimetres is possible by Thursday morning.
Areas to the north are under a winter storm watch and could see anywhere between 10-20 cm of snow.
The storm is expected to affect much of the golden horseshoe with a freezing rain or a rain-wet snow mix.
Drivers are being advised to use caution and drive to the road conditions.
