A 28-year-old Toronto man is facing multiple charges after a dismembered body was found in a Thornhill home near Steeles and Bayview Avenues.
Police were notified of the remains after 2 men walked into 42 division in Scarborough around 6:30 p.m. last night and told police about the murder on Lauraleaf Road.
28 year old Peizheng Qiu has now been charged with first-degree murder and indecent interference with a dead body.
The second man is not currently facing any charges.
Witnesses say several body bags were seen being removed from the home and when asked whether the victim was dismembered Const. Andy Pattenden said “If you look at the charge of indecent interference to a dead body, you can draw your own conclusions.”
The identity of the deceased has not been released as next of kin had yet to be notified.
A resident who lives across the street where the body was found said the home had four different owners the past five years.
Police are asking anyone with home security footage or information to contact York Region investigators or Crime Stoppers.
