Cindy Ali has been convicted of first-degree murder in a Toronto court following the death of her severely disabled daughter Cynara in February 2011.
The trial was based around a reported home invasion that took place at Ali’s residence over 5 years ago. The defense claimed that two men entered the home and held the mother and daughter at gun point.
Ali claims that after being escorted the house she returned to find her daughter, who suffered from cerebral palsy, laying on the floor lifeless and with a pillow covering her face.
During the investigation of the incident, officials found signs of the home being robbed but did not find any sign of forced entry.
Ali now faces a sentence of 25 years in prison with no possibility of parole.
