Airline passenger advocate Gabor Lukacs is asking Canada to create universal guidelines concerning airplane seat sizes.
He points out that American Senator Charles Schumer is trying to establish seat-size standards south of the border.
If our North American cousins are looking into it, why shouldn’t we?
Even the European Union has a set of rules!
Lukacs says Canadian airlines are cramming too many people into a plane, and are putting passengers’ safety at risk. It also impacts passenger comfort, which is something that is a necessity on longer flights.
“In terms of air passenger rights, we are very much behind the rest of the world,” Lukacs told The Canadian Press.
AM640’s Mike Stafford recently experienced the “joy” of Recaro seats on his flight. These seats do away with many of the cushions that provide a passenger comfort, but add extra weight to an aircraft. Weight affects an airline’s fuel costs.
