Yet another record for a high set in the GTA after a beautiful Sunday.
Environment Canada confirmed that Pearson Airport passed the previous record set in 1954 of 11.1 degrees Celsius with daily high reaching 13.8.
A low pressure system brought a warm south-west flow to southern Ontario, but, not for the entire province.
Temperatures in cities not too far north of Toronto were dramatically lower, like Kingston and Ottawa, which never hit plus temperatures.
“There was a very sharp boundary between Southern and Northern Ontario, today” said Environment Canada’s Desjanelle Matthews. “North of us, it still very much feels like winter.”
The good fortune is not going to last, as the GTA is expected to be back to more seasonal winter temperatures by Wednesday.
