“Wednesday is looking like a pretty messy day” according to Jeff Coulson of Environment Canada. “It looks like we’ll see some snow begin overnight which will mix into some ice pellets as we get further into the morning commute.”
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the City Of Toronto on Wednesday, revealing that a major winter storm is expected to affect commutes on Wednesday and Thursday.
A low pressure system is emerging from Texas and is expected to intensify bringing significant amounts of rain, snow and ice pellets, along with the possibility of freezing rain.
“These types of winter storms from Texas typically bring 15 to 30 mm or more of rain” said Coulson “We could see snowfall and freezing rain warnings issued in the GTA, depending on the timing of the precipitation.”
Travel conditions are expected to quickly deteriorate Wednesday morning as Coulson believes with the current forecast, the bulk of the morning commute should be slow for drivers.
