Jose Bautista has given the Toronto Blue Jays his list of demands for what it would take to keep him beyond 2016.
The outfielder says “there’s no negotiation. I’m not going to sit here and try and bargain for a couple of dollars. I’ve given this organization a 5-year hometown discount already.”
Bautista’s current package expires this fall, but the 35 year old thinks he’s proved himself with the Jays and feels he has outperformed his contract.
The comments come as the Dominican national comes off a 40-homer season, in which he helped Toronto to an AL East title and its first post-season appearance since 1993.
The Blue Jays have exercised his $14 million option for the upcoming season.
Bautista who made $64 million over the past five years, says he is still waiting on an answer from the Jays.
