There was an out-pour on Twitter, on-air, and email on the emotion/opinion regarding the question of national unity after airing a segment last Sunday with three Albertans actively considering an Alberta/Western Canadian breakup with Canada to perhaps be the best move for the West. The ‘national unity’ issue was raised by CPC interim leader Rona Ambrose on-air over the Energy East pipeline issue.
Today, we revisited the question with the same Alberta guests and the addition of the ‘Q’ factor. The Quebec factor, with Nino Colavecchio, member of the Parti Quebecois, former PQ candidate in provincial election and Montreal radio talk show host. This latest round of national (dis)unity talk began when Denis Coderre insisted “non” was his and 81 Mayors of the Montreal area response to Energy East passing through the Montreal area.
If you’re in favour of Alberta/Western Canada separation, doesn’t that mean you’re supporting the ambition of the Parti Quebecois as well? Should Canada break up? What’s your feeling about our national unity?
