The family of one of two victims shot and killed at Muzik Nightclub last summer has announced it will launch a $2.5 M lawsuit against the establishment.
23 year old Duvel Hibbert was gunned down at the club, which was hosting the OVO Fest after-party. The Brampton man was pronounced dead at the scene.
His family says the club and it’s owners failed to staff the event with enough security and police on hand to prevent this from happening.
They also claim employees were not properly trained to respond to this kind of situation, and security measures were not in place to detect any weapons being brought into the club.
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
26 year old Areila Navarro-Fenoy, of Toronto, was also fatally shot, and three others were injured.
It’s not known if other lawsuits will be filed.
