High school students in Toronto were enjoying having classes start at a later time– usually 10am. That was until work-to-rule action starting this past November put an end to the later start times. Students ever since have voiced their displeasure over social media, with one school even creating a petition to get the later start time back.
The original purpose for a later start time once a week was to give schools an opportunity to hold staff meetings before class. But with the job action, teachers no longer attend staff meetings and the 10am start times were cancelled as a result.
Should there be a later start for high school students to increase sleep? Do you think these students have a legitimate complaint?
