In a latest inspection blitz, the labour ministry evaluated 304 workplaces for violations of the Employment Standards Act. Of those workplaces – ranging from Bowlerama to Goodlife Fitness – 78% were breaking the law. Examples of infractions were: excess hours, failure to give overtime pay, and poor record keeping. The ministry collected $361,000 in unpaid wages for workers.
