Do you use U.S. Netflix in your home? Well it may be time to say good-bye.
Netflix has announced that is “evolving” its technology to prevent their users from accessing versions of Netflix outside of their country. After reports that one- third of anglophone-Canadians are illegally subscribed to the U.S. version of the program.
“Those using proxies and unblockers will only be able to access the service in the country where they currently are,” Netflix wrote on its blog. “We are confident this change won’t impact members not using proxies.”
To help prevent their users from using alternative versions of Netflix, and to grow their market, Netflix is attempting to make it so that all of the TV shows and movies are consistent across all networks. Currently, Netflix operates in 190 countries worldwide, and is still looking to expand.
