Well, this is embarrassing!
York University sent early acceptance emails Monday to 500 students that weren’t supposed to receive them!
Instead, the emails were meant to indicate that their applications had merely been received and were being reviewed.
“We really empathize that there’s a small group of students that got this message, and they get anxious and excited, and so we did do the outreach and tried to do it as quickly as possible,” York University student recruitment and admission director Jock Phippen told the Toronto Star. “We got it completely. I have a son who’s in high school … To every one of those students and those families, it’s paramount. It’s the most important thing, and that’s why we were so quick on getting back to them.”
York has made it clear that the 500 students have not been accepted into their programs – yet! The university said it’s still too early to indicate which student have made the cut.
Zohaib Jailani wasn’t happy after receiving one of these letters. He took to Twitter to share his anger.
