GO Transit service on both the Lakeshore East and Stouffville lines have been suspended after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a VIA Rail Train in the City’s East End.
It happened between Danforth GO and Scarborough GO stations shortly before 4.p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Speaking to AM640 news, Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins confirmed that all of the Lakeshore East trains are currently holding, with service on the Stouffville line also affected.
The Lakeshore West line may also experience some delays as a result of the incident.
Aikins acknowledged that it is difficult to say how long the disruption will last but that efforts are being made to get people home this afternoon rush.
Commuters are being advised that they can use their GO pass on the TTC to travel from Union Station to Kennedy GO Station where shuttle buses will be in operation.
