Concern for a Toronto police officer taken to hospital after he was bitten by a sick raccoon.
Police received a call about a raccoon that appeared to be blind and hanging around a downtown store, this afternoon.
Two officers arrived around 12:30 to deal with the problem animal and one officer was bit in the hand while trying to corral it.
The officers hand injury isn’t serious, but there are some concerns with recent rabies issues in Hamilton in which 10 raccoons that tested positive for potentially fatal virus
The city’s animal services division has put down the animal in question and it will now be tested to determine the cause of its illness.
