A mother’s silver Acura was stolen Wednesday evening from Parliament and Dundas Streets – with her KIDS STILL INSIDE! And because of that, she may be charged.
Mom left her 6-year-old and 14-month-old children inside the vehicle, which she left running, while she went into a store for a quick second.
An attentive thief took advantage of this window of opportunity.
“The ignition was not on but the key was left in the ignition,” Toronto Constable Douglas-Cook said.
The thief, likely after realizing that there young children in the car, abandoned the vehicle a short distance from the scene of the crime. Both kids were unharmed. Police continue to search for the suspect.
Police have indicated that they’re investigating the mother, who may be be charged under Section 218 of the Criminal Code, which penalizes somebody for leaving a child under the age of 10 unattended. They will likely worth with Children’s Aid to determine if any charges will be laid.
Do you think she should be punished for what happened to her children? Was what happened punishment enough?
