A source tells the CBC News HERE that in an effort to stop members of ISIS from entering the country, Canada is only accepting women, children and families via the Syrian refugee program.
Single, unaccompanied men seeking asylum in Canada will not be approved.
Government officials have been working hard to screen around 100 people a day in Lebanon in an effort to meet the goal of 25,000 refugees by 2015’s end. Multiple departments, including the RCMP and CSIS, are involved in the screening process.
While refugees will initially be house in “camps” made up of military bases, hotels and abandoned hospitals and schools.
However, while refugees will be placed in these locations upon their arrival in the country, they are expected to quickly disperse within a few weeks. Under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, they do have a right to mobility, meaning that they can’t be stopped from traveling to other parts of the country.
