In an effort to compete with Uber and gain back some of the 40% of the taxi income lost to the ride-sharing giant, base fare for licenced cabs in Toronto have now dropped from $4.25 to $3.25.
The rate reduction was approved by Toronto City Council in September.
However, Uber still offers cheaper rates. If you hop into an UberX within the city, your fare will begin at $2.50.
Is this dollar drop enticing enough to lure you out of a vehicle connected via Uber and back into a trusted taxi cab?
