Toronto Police would like to make the public aware of a historical Sexual Assault investigation amid fears that there may be more victims.
The incidents are alleged to have taken place between 2010 and 2011, mainly in the Thorncliffe Park area, however its believed additional incidents occurred throughout the Toronto area.
According to police, a 14 year old girl was extorted into a dating relationship with the man, who is said to have used her girl’s cultural restrictions as a means to coerce her into the relationship.
Police also say that the man met the girl through his job as a a musical performer in the Afghan community.
41 year old Abdul Basir Samir was arrested in March of this year and charged with 6 counts including extortion and sexual assault.
He still works within the community as a musical performer.
