St. George, Ontario, the small town which captured global attention as a Facebook page told the story of 7 year old Evan Leversage terminally ill with brain cancer. 18 months of chemotherapy when Evan was 2 years of age stopped the tumour from growing, but in January of this year it returned and more radiation treatment did not halt its growth with doctors not sure Evan would see Christmas.
Yesterday, St. George held a Christmas Comes Early parade for Evan, which had been his wish. Evan rode in a sleigh with St. Nick in a 25 float procession.
Fake snow was on Evan’s family’s front lawn, neighbours strung Christmas lights around their homes and store owners decorated their premises in red and green. 7,000 people attended the parade and Evan received Christmas cards and presents sent from around the world.
