The Toronto police services board has approved the purchase of 500 new tasers for Toronto police officers at a cost of $1.3 million.
The 550 that are currently in service are in need of replacement.
The purchase means police officers would be utilizing the best and most efficient technology.
The decision was made at today’s board meeting where the budget was being discussed.
At today’s meeting the board voted to defer the 2016 operating budget until November so that chief Mark Saunders can find more savings.
