Officials in the UK have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection to a recent threat that caused a lockdown at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Waterloo location.
On Friday, the campus was put into lockdown between the hours of 6 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. after the Special Constable Service received a tip from Crime Stoppers indicating a threat to the school. Police were notified immediately, and they were able to confirm the threat which prompted the response.
The threat was posted on the web forum site 4chan.
According to officers in Waterloo, the suspect was arrested in Tottenham Hale in north London under “suspicion of malicious communication.”
Authorities are not releasing many details on the arrest or charges at this time.
