A new study has found that holding a high stress job could greatly increase your chances of suffering a stroke, especially if you’re a woman.
Southern Medical University in Guangzhou, China published a study that examined 138,000 participants for periods of 3 to 17 years, and found that high demand/low control jobs like those in the service industry were linked with a greater risk of stroke by as much as 22% over people working low stress jobs.
They also found that high stress jobs create a higher chance of a stroke in women than men, by a factor of a few percentage points.
